The Opportunity

With the ever increasing pressure on becoming more energy efficient and with energy bills constantly on the up, there has never been a better time for end users to start looking for more sustainable, money saving alternatives to reduce their energy consumption.

The UK Government realises that the use of fossil fuels has become an issue, with its effects on global warming and pollution. As we all know fossil fuel reserves are limited and often expensive, where renewable energy sources, are not. Because of this the UK Government has committed itself to decreasing our reliance on fossil and nuclear fuels and has introduced a Feed in Tariff “FiT”, often referred to as “clean energy cash-backs”, which were put in place April 2010 and guarantee an index-linked, tax-free payment to the homeowner for at least 25 years.

The Feed in Tariff currently offers the homeowner up to 41.3p per kWh (retro-fit PV) plus an additional 3p per unit for any unused electricity that is exported back to the grid. This means that the average household could save up to £1,000 per year through a combination of less electricity purchased from the grid and being paid for every unit they generate from their PV system.
